At Bleecker, we’re all about commitment to the burger. Over time, we saw the same request pop up again and again: halal beef. So we made it happen.
Our Westfield and Baker Street locations now serve burgers made with halal-certified beef from the same butcher we’ve used for a long time, Aubrey Allen. These sites aren’t fully halal, as we also serve bacon and alcohol, but we’ve got proper systems in place to avoid cross-contamination - including separate prep areas, tools, and grill processes.
Is Bleecker Beef halal?
In Westfield and Baker Street, the beef is halal. In all other sites, the beef is not halal.
Is there a difference in taste with halal beef?
Not at all, the taste remains the same. We maintain the same standards when cooking our patties to ensure every burger tastes consistent.
Are Westfield white city and Baker Street halal restaurants?
No. Even though the beef Bleecker serves is halal, the restaurant is not halal because Bleecker sells non-halal products such as pork and alcohol.
Why do you not have halal beef in all locations?
We are unable to guarantee the supply of enough halal beef for all locations. The locations chosen to be halal were due to customer request and feedback.
Is your beef stunned before slaughter?
Yes, all our beef at Bleecker is stunned before slaughter, including our halal options.

What bacon does Bleecker use? Is it halal?
It is a non-halal, pork product.
What processes exist to stop cross contamination with non-halal products?
We are very careful about how we handle halal beef to avoid any cross-contamination.
The same grill surface is used to cook bacon before service begins, and once the bacon is cooked this is set aside, the grill is completely shut down and undergoes a full cleaning and sanitisation process. From that point on, no bacon is cooked again for the rest of the day. Only halal beef is cooked on the grill during service, using separate clean, dedicated utensils and with strict handling protocols in place.
